Abstract

The expansion of international trade has increased the movement of agricultural and horticultural products, thereby elevating the risk of pest dispersal. Among these, thrips are major pests that cause severe damage to plants, posing significant challenges to the horticultural industries. Effective quarantine measures are increasingly essential to mitigate their impact. This study analyzed detection records of thrips in imported cut flower over the past decade (2015-2024) to identify trends in their occurrence. An analysis of detection records of Thysanoptera over the past 10 years revealed a total of 13,960 cases, accounting for 52% of all pests detected in imported cut flowers. The most frequently detected flower types were roses (10.8%) and clematis (9.7%), while the countries with the highest detection rates were the Netherlands (50.6%) and china (13.9%). Additionally, DNA barcoding was analyzed using molecular biological methods for accurate species identification. These findings provide essential data for enhancing laboratory based quarantine measures for imported cut flowers.
