Effects of 19 Insecticides on Mature Larvae of Fall Webworm Hyphantria cunea Drury (Lepidoptera: Erebidae)

Abstract

The efficacies of 19 registered pesticides were evaluated to determine their effectiveness in controlling mature larvae of the fall webworm (Hyphantria cunea Drury). The present study determined that pyrethroid-based pesticides, such as deltamethrin EC, etofenprox EC, lambda-cyhalothrin EC, esfenvalerate EC, emamectin benzoate EC, tebufenozide WP, chlorantraniliprole WG, and pyridalyl EW, had a high control efficacy of >90% after 48 h. In addition, metaflumizone EC showed a 96.7% insecticidal effect after 72 h, whereas methoxyfenozide SC achieved a high control efficacy of 100% at 96 h after treatment.
