Effect on attraction of Phromone Traps for Dioryctria abietella (Lepidoptera; Pyralidae) at Different Installation Heights in Korean Pine Forests
Abstract
The spruce cone worm (Dioryctria abietella) attacks coniferous cones and damages Korean pine trees (Pinus koraiensis) in Gyeonggi-do and Gangwon-do, Korea. Pheromone traps were installed at various heights to investigate the activity period and the attractiveness of pheromone traps in pine forests in Sang-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, and Gyeonggi-do. A total of 735 spruce cone worm were attracted and captured. The spruce cone worm were lured over 5 months, from May 11 to October 11, and the peak activity period was June 22. In the attraction test, based on the installation height of the pheromone traps, 99.2% of the individuals were captured in traps installed in the upper canopy
