The genus Tachinus Gravenhorst contains about 250 species worldwide and 191 species in the Palaearctic region, 78 species in China and 18 species in Japan (Feng et al., 2013; Schülke and Smetana, 2015). In Korea, six species have been recorded (Kim and Ahn, 2000; Ahn et al., 2017).
Members of Tachinus occur on rotten fungi, leaf litter, and decaying organism. Some species are found in cool and humid habitats such as streamside and wetland. In this paper, we report Tachinus (T.) javanus Cameron for the first time in the Korean peninsula and redescribe T. (T.) yezoensis Li with male characteristics. Photographs of adult habitus, key, and diagnostic characters with line drawings of these two species are provided.
Materials and Methods
The specimens used in this study are deposited in the Chungnam National University Insect Collection (CNUIC), Daejeon, Korea and the Hannam University Natural History Museum (HUNHM), Daejeon, Korea.
